The town of Geneva has passed a new law that will protect it against future litigation when it comes to defective or dangerous conditions found in and around private properties.
“It basically says for roads and sidewalks, if you see a dangerous condition, you’ve got to let us know before you can sue us,” said Town Supervisor Mark Venuti. “We have to have a chance to fix it.”
Venuti said the law came at the suggestion of the town attorney. No residents attended a public hearing on the matter Tuesday prior to it becoming law.
