The City of Geneva has a new city clerk. Nicole Tillotson was appointed City Clerk on Monday following a special meeting by City Council
The City Clerk is one of three roles that the Council oversees per the Geneva City Charter. City Council began the search process in February 2024 as the previous City Clerk, Nicole Wright, left the City Clerk’s Office to move next door as a member of the Geneva City Fire Department. The search process yielded nearly 50 applicants with just over 20 being City of Geneva residents.
According to the city, Tillotson is a seasoned professional who brings with her years of experience in providing quality customer service, supporting various stakeholders, maintaining governmental records, and working to ensure employee and community success. She has worked for Ontario County since 2016, serving in the Departments of Public Health, and Social Services and as a Confidential Secretary to the Ontario County Sheriff.
City Manager Amie Hendrix stated, “We are excited to welcome Nicole to City Hall to not only support the work of the City Council but to be a key member of our leadership team. In the interview process, it was clear that Nicole is a strategic thinker who will be a great resource for staff, council, and the community.”
Mayor Steve Valentino commented “We are fortunate to have received so many applications from interested candidates. This is a positive signal that the City of Geneva is a great place to live, work & invest. Nicole comes to the City Clerk position with experience, talent and professionalism that will be a valuable compliment to the team. Council looks forward to working with Nicole and also shares their appreciation for all that applied.”
Nicole Tillotson shared, “I’m honored to be chosen for the role of Geneva City Clerk and look forward to serving our vibrant community.”
