SHARE NOW

Seneca County’s National Night Out returns Tuesday night. National Night Out, held annually on the first Tuesday in August, enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It provides an excellent opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Events like these open new perspectives and understandings, as community involvement and interactions enrich everyone’s life.

The Seneca County National Night Out Celebration on Tuesday from 5:00-7:30 at Rodman Lott & Sons Farm at 2973 Rte. 414 in Seneca Falls. Besides enjoying the free, family fun of kickball, water-balloon toss, and bouncy houses, families and community members are welcome to come to meet members of each of our eight local law enforcement personnel (Waterloo, Seneca Falls, and Interlaken Police Departments, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Agency and New York’s State Troopers, Department of Environmental Conservation and Park Police), see different operational components (4-wheelers, scuba gear, drones, K-9, cars and more), and watch the NYS Trooper Seat Belt Convincer, Roll-over and SWAT team helicopter repelling demonstration. Multiple agencies and organizations will be attending to provide information about the services they offer to county residents.

Hidden Cove Rest Stop food truck will have food for purchase, complimentary sno-cones will be available to everyone interested, and the Seneca Falls Rotary will provide free hot dogs to all children. The event is free and open to the public, with donations and local police benevolent associations funding the event.

In neighboring Cayuga County, the Auburn Police Department, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, and their community partners will be at Hoopes Park from 5:00-8:00p.

Aside from meeting with the public, APD will be helping to recruit the next generation of police officers. Officers will be on hand to answer any questions on may have about careers in law enforcement and assist with the application process. Registration to take the police civil service exam is August 29 with the test date scheduled for September 28.

Coinciding with National Night Out in Auburn, Hoopes Park will also host the city’s Tuesday night concert. Mark Macri & the Funk Junkies will take to the stage at 6:00p.
