Two teenagers reported missing from the Town of Greece are now facing charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle from the City of Canandaigua Department of Public Works and driving it to Albion.
According to police, the incident unfolded Tuesday morning when officials received a tip around 10:30 a.m. about a possibly stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Hoag Library in Albion. The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen from the Canandaigua DPW.
Officers located the vehicle at a nearby charging station, where they found a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy inside. A Glock-style BB gun was also recovered at the scene.
Both teens were taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of stolen property.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
