Memorial Day ceremonies were held Monday at the New York State Veteran’s Cemetery-Finger Lakes.
The cemetery is 162 acres along Seneca Lake in Romulus, and for many years was home to the Sampson Naval Training Station and Sampson Airforce Base.

Secretary of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Denis McDonough, urged those in attendance yesterday to remember the generations of people that trained at the former Sampson Naval and Airforce Base.
Other speakers yesterday included Seneca County Administrator Kyle Lovell, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, and retired State Senator Michael Nozzolio.
Military Honors were provided by the Ovid VFW and American Legion Honor Guard.
The Seneca County cemetery is the first and only New York State Veterans Cemetery.
