The cause of a massive fire that destroyed Ferrara Lumber in Seneca Falls exactly one year ago today remains undetermined.
Seneca Falls Police Department Investigator Christopher Denny says the search for the cause of the fire remains an “open investigation.”
It was Sunday, July 3, 2022 about 5:30 pm when several passerby report the fire to 911 saying they saw heavy smoke coming from the east end of the business. It took firefighters from Seneca Falls, Bridgeport, Waterloo, Fayette, Ovid, Interlaken, Clyde, Geneva and eight other departments from four counties over 5-hours to bring the fire under control.
Like this past weekend, the Seneca Falls Canal Fest was taking place directly behind Ferrara’s when the fire occurred.
