    There will be several periods of stronger winds, with this afternoon seeing strong southerly winds, then a break this evening, before stronger west wind develop tonight into Saturday.

Man Killed After Being Hit By Two Cars in Geneva Identified

Update: The Geneva man killed after being struck by two cars Thursday night has been identified.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says 45-year old Joel Mercado was hit by a 2004 Honda SUV then a 2016 Toyota Corolla just before 9:00p on Route 14.

Both vehicles stopped and attempted to render aid to Mercado who was wearing dark clothing, however, first responders declared him dead at the scene.

Prior to the accident, 911 received calls from people concerned about a man on a bicycle in the area. A bike was found near where Mercado was killed.

Deputies say there is no evidence that either driver was impaired.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

A person was killed after being struck by two cars Thursday night on Route 14 south of Packwood Road in Geneva.

According to the initial investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, a 45-year-old man wearing dark clothing was standing in the road just before 9 o’clock when he was struck by a Honda SUV and then a Toyota Corolla.  The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office had the road shutdown for several hours while performing accident reconstruction. The investigation is ongoing.

The Oaks Corners Fire Department and Finger Lakes Ambulance assisted Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies at the scene.
