A man who is already serving a 15-year prison sentence for kidnapping and torturing a man over three years ago in Geneva will spend the rest of his life behind bars for a murder that happened in the Southern Tier.
Eddie Marte was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for kidnapping and murder. Marte was one of four people charged in the January 2021 torture and murder of an Elmira man, whose body was found three months later in a remote area of Pennsylvania.
Marte and Malik Weems, who were also arrested in the Elmira case, were convicted of holding their Geneva victim at gunpoint in April of 2021, beating him with belts and cords, and burning him with a knife.
