An inmate at the Ontario County Jail has been charged with attempted murder and conspiracy after an investigation by multiple agencies.
32-year-old Jerry Lovett, of Geneva, is currently in jail for a different attempted murder charge.
A Special Investigations Unit of the Ontario, Seneca, and Wayne County Sheriff’s Offices, Canandaigua and Geneva Police, and the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office allege that, while incarcerated, Lovett made an agreement with a person who was not incarcerated to kill someone for profit.
Lovett was arraigned and recommitted to jail.
Lovett was arrested back in January for allegedly shooting 53-year-old Erwin Wineglass, of Geneva, during the early morning hours of January 7th after getting into an argument at a residence on North Genesee Street. After shooting Wineglass multiple times in the face and chest. Lovett was then allegedly stabbed multiple times in the chest, thigh, hands, and legs by Wineglass. Lovett, who is a convicted felon, was hospitalized for a period of time after the January incident.
