A fire damaged four boats at a Wayne County marina on Thursday.
Firefighters responded to Oak Park Resort and Marina on Sodus Bay at around 9:30 a.m. for the report of a boat that had exploded in the parking lot. An initial investigation determined a 65-year-old man from Webster had been cleaning the cabin area of his vessel when it burst into flames.
The unidentified victim was able to self-extricate but suffered severe injuries. He was taken to Strong by LifeNet.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the North Rose, Rose, Wallington, Alton, Wolcott, and Clyde Fire companies, as well as Wayne County Medical personnel. The investigation is ongoing.
