Macedon Business Owner Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud for Classic Car Scheme

SHARE NOW

A Macedon business owner has pled guilty to wire fraud after failing to restore antique cars.

Clark Rittersbach was the owner of Concours Classic Motor Cars. Between 2018 and 2022, he falsely claimed to have completed work on antique vehicles in order to obtain money for work he had not done. According to the US Attorney’s Office, it was not uncommon for work to take years to complete and many customers relied on his assurances when sending money.

As examples of his fraud, the office claims, that in 2019, Rittersbach sent texts and emails to a victim stating he had completed work on a Duesenberg engine and charged them $25,000; however, the work was not completed.

In another example, Rittersbach overstated how much work had been done on a 1964 Porsche to obtain payment for work he hadn’t done but intended to do at a later date.

Between 2018 and April 2022, Rittersbach defrauded victims out of approximately $100,000.

When sentenced in December, Rittersbach faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
