Registered Sex Offender from Lyons Charged in Teen Sting

A convicted sex offender out on parole has been arrested again, accused of trying to meet a 14-year-old for sex in Wayne County.

The Sheriff’s Office, with help from Palmyra Police, says 32-year-old Christopher Ford, of Lyons, currently designated a Level 2 sex offender, used a messaging app to send multiple sexually explicit messages to someone he believed was a teenage girl. Investigators say Ford then agreed to meet the girl at Aqueduct Park in Palmyra to engage in sexual activity.

Ford was arrested and charged with first-degree Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors. He is being held at the Wayne County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court.

This is not Ford’s first arrest for sex crimes involving minors. In February 2021, he was arrested by the Seneca Falls Police Department and later convicted of disseminating indecent material to a minor. In September 2021, he was also convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl in June of 2020 and sentenced to four years in state prison. He is currently out on parole.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
