A local man will spend the next decade behind bars followed by 15 years on parole after being sentenced for his rape, sexual abuse and assault convictions.
Thomas Mitchell was arrested back in 2021 for the rape that occurred in 2017. The Finger Lakes Times reports the Mitchell was convicted in 1996 of attempted assault and criminal contempt stemming from an incident involving a girlfriend and was again convicted in 2010 of felony coercion as well as misdemeanor charges of stalking and unlawful imprisonment.
Mitchell was the former owner of the Old Mill hotdog stand in Phelps.
