If you’re in Waterloo this weekend, you’ll have to watch out for the living dead.
The Revitalization of Waterloo Committee is hosting its first Zombie 5k run/walk this Saturday. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes as they navigate the course with actors dressed as zombies appearing throughout it.
Committee Chair Stephanie Krzysik told Finger Lakes News Radio there will also be an area to get your picture taken with the zombies and all awards for the day will be in the shape of tombstones.
Proceeds from the event will go toward Beverly Animal Shelter and Boy Scout Troop 74.
Krzysik added that she hopes becomes just as popular as a nearby winter run.
“We’re going to keep adding as we go along over the years as well,” she said. “I’d like to see us get as big as the It’s a Wonderful Run.”
If you’d like to take your chances and race against the living dead, you can still register. Race day registration can be done from 2:00-3:30p at the VFW on Chestnut Street.
The run begins at 4:00p.
