Law Enforcement, Seneca County Church Leaders Meet to Discuss Safety

SHARE NOW

A meeting designed to improve the safety and security at houses of worship within Seneca County was held by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office with church leadership from across the county.
Since January, Sheriff’s Deputies have increased patrols during services at places of worship and will continue to be visible during those times.

“This meeting was a success and we look forward to continuing this into the future,” said Sheriff Timothy J. Thompson. “I want to thank Deputy Jacobsen and Lieutenant Steuer for their expertise. I also want to thank the church leaders for taking the time to attend. We will continue to strive to make this community safer and we hope that this event contributes to that. We know that these are tough conversations, but we must be proactive in preventing tragedies.”

Sheriff Thompson added that Thursday’s event was well attended and was a collaboration of ideas between the various churches represented and law enforcement.
