The human remains found by a surveying crew on East Union Street in the village of Newark last Friday have been identified.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the remains as Kevin Heise, who was reported missing from Newark in September of 2022. According to Newark Police, an extensive investigation during that time, including a recent search of the Erie Canal prior to it being refilled, turned up no signs of Heise.
Heise was last seen alive on September 2, 2022, getting into a blue vehicle. Police said Heise had no permanent address and was known to move frequently.
The investigation into his death with continue.
