Authorities are investigating after human skeletal remains were found in the town of Sodus.
The discovery was made last Wednesday by a property owner in a wooded area along Champlin Road, who contacted 911. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Forensic Identification Unit responded, with assistance from the State Police Canine Unit and the County Coroner. Additional bones were recovered during the excavation of the site.
A forensic anthropologist conducted a preliminary examination and confirmed that the remains are believed to be human. They have been turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further analysis and identification.
The investigation remains active, and authorities are continuing efforts to determine the identity of the remains.
