A major change is coming to the Boys Scouts of America, Seneca Waterways Council. After 15 years of service as the Council’s Executive and CEO, Stephen Hoitt will leave his position at the end of the month to join the national staff of Scouting America.
Hoitt will continue to serve in an interim capacity to ensure a smooth leadership transition until a new CEO is hired, likely after the beginning of the year.
In his new role as Territory Director, Stephen will oversee the operations of councils across New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts. He will also assist 22 councils across the region and temporarily lead councils transitioning to new Scout Executives.
Seneca Waterways described Hoitt’s tenure as “one being marked by exceptional leadership and financial stability.” He joined the Council in 2010, following a successful five-year tenure as Scout Executive for the Baden-Powell Council in Binghamton.
Over his 33-year career in Scouting, Stephen has also held key roles in the Green Mountain Council (VT), Pioneer Valley Council (MA), and Connecticut Yankee Council (CT).
