Flags on all New York State buildings have been ordered by Governor Kathy Hochul to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday in honor of fallen Wayne County firefighter Dan DeWolf.
On January 21st, DeWolf went into cardiac arrest at the scene of a house fire. He passed away at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. DeWolf was a member of the Fairville Volunteer Firefighter Department for 32 years.
“Our volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line day in and day out to keep their communities safe, selflessly putting the safety of others first,” Governor Hochul said. “The loss of Dan DeWolf will be felt across New York as it highlights the risks these firefighters take on voluntarily. My heart is with Mr. DeWolf’s loved ones and his fellow firefighters. We are thankful for his service.”
