A groundbreaking ceremony will be held later this month at the Geneva Family YMCA for their renovation and expansion project. Executive Director Charlie Evangelista said the expansion would be 10,000 square feet.
“If we had our way, we would like to be able to do something on par with the Canandaigua YMCA, but our community is our community and we’re building what matters and we’re building what we can afford.”
The groundbreaking will take place on May 25th. The new Geneva Y will feature a new entrance, expanded childcare space, and more programming space. The project is expected to take 12 to 14 months to complete and the Y will remain open during the construction.
Evangelista made the announcement on “FLX Morning” with Ted Baker. You can listen to the complete interview here.
