With over 81 percent voter approval, the proposed $33.6 million capital project in the Geneva City School District passed on Thursday. The vote was 423 in favor and 94 against.

“I’d like to thank everyone who voted,” said Superintendent Bo Wright. “This project will allow us to make important security and safety improvements to our buildings, as well as complete necessary maintenance upgrades.

The project will be funded through the use of eligible state building aid reimbursements and $7.9 million from the district’s Capital Reserve Fund designated specifically for capital improvements. All four schools within the district will see work.
