Geneva High School Principal Greg Baker has accepted a post as the district’s new director of school accountability, effective July 1.
Geneva Middle School Principal Matt Heath will take over as principal of the high school, and the district will begin the search for his replacement in the coming weeks.
“It has been my honor to serve as Geneva High School’s principal for the past 14 years,” said Baker. “During this time, we have seen unprecedented growth and success on every level, from academics to the expansion of clubs and athletics. I am confident that the school will reach even greater heights under Mr. Heath’s leadership. I am excited to assist the district in my new role as director of school accountability.”
The school accountability directorship is a combination of two existing posts—data coordinator and grants coordinator. “Combining two district-level positions allows us to realize efficiencies within the school budget,” explained Superintendent Bo Wright. “Greg is an experienced administrator who has served the district for a long time — he’s very astute when it comes to using data for school improvement purposes, and I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
The district’s previous data coordinator, Kevin Fairben, retired this winter, and the current grants coordinator, Maureen Lee, has already retired and was serving in the role on a temporary basis.
Heath has been the middle school principal since 2022. “While I will deeply miss walking the halls of GMS and seeing the staff and students there every day, I’m excited by the opportunity to serve our students and community in this new capacity,” said Heath.

“Matt has proven himself as a talented, dynamic leader,” said Wright. “He knows our students and our district and has helped the middle school make significant progress in the past few years. We expect that he’ll be able to continue that work at the high school.”
Prior to joining Geneva City Schools in 2011, Baker was assistant principal at Newark High School. He has a bachelor’s in physics from Hobart College and a master’s in educational administration from St. John Fisher College.
Heath joined the district in 2019 as an instructional coach before moving into the role of an administrative intern in 2020. Before that, he worked in the Syracuse City School District. He has a bachelor’s in history and education and a master’s in special education, both from Le Moyne College.
