The Geneva League of Women Voters Candidates’ Forums have been cancelled. According to the Finger Lakes Times, forums for candidates running for elective offices in the city of Geneva had been scheduled for October 17th and October 24th. The meetings were cancelled because Republican candidates refused to participate. The only race with two candidates committed to a forum was Ward 2, which features incumbent Republican Bill Pealer Jr. and Democratic challenger Cassie Sneider. City Democrats say all of their candidates agreed to participate, and they criticized Republicans who either declined or did not respond to the League’s request for participation. Republicans say they hope to participate in debates organized by the Hobart and William Smith College’s debate team.
