A Geneva man had to be rescued after his car went over an embankment off State Route 21 in Ontario County and slid down a steep ravine, stopping approximately 75 feet from the road.
Canandaigua ALS secured Ryan Robinson and because of the slick conditions and unsure footing at the Town of South Bristol location, a rope rescue was deemed the most effective way to pull him to safety. DEC Forest Rangers worked with the Ontario County High Angle Team and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department to pull Robinson to the roadway where they were met by an ambulance.
Robinson was taken to Strong for treatment of undisclosed injuries. It is believed speed and weather were contributing factors in the accident.
The Ontario County Rope Team, Canandaigua Fire, Cheshire Fire, South Bristol Fire, Naples Fire, Livingston County Rope Team, Canandaigua Ambulance, Naples Ambulance, New York Forest Rangers, and Ontario County Sheriff’s Office also assisted on the scene.
