A man was hospitalized and now faces multiple charges after crashing his vehicle into a home in the Town of Hopewell on Thursday morning.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 8 a.m. to a report of a vehicle that had struck a residence at 3194 Routes 5 & 20. When deputies arrived, they found the driver, identified as 38-year-old Sequan Broadus, of Geneva, outside his 2021 Land Rover Range Rover in the yard of the property. The home was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
Broadus was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI) and Criminal Mischief. He was also issued traffic citations for tinted windows, failure to keep right, unreasonable speed, consuming marijuana in a vehicle, and not wearing a seatbelt.
He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Canandaigua Ambulance for injuries suffered in the crash. The Hopewell Fire Department and Ontario County Code Enforcement also assisted at the scene.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
