Penn Yan Police have arrested a Geneva man following an investigation into multiple theft incidents earlier this month.
Police say Edward F. Galvin III was taken into custody after responding to a reported vehicle break-in in a local municipal lot on August 10. Later that same day, officers pursued Galvin on foot during a separate theft incident at a business, ultimately apprehending him.
During the arrest, officers recovered property reported stolen from the earlier vehicle break-in. CCTV footage later confirmed Galvin at the scene, going through the victim’s car.
He has been charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Petit Larceny, and Criminal Tampering in the Third Degree. Galvin was processed and released on an appearance ticket, with a scheduled court date in Penn Yan Village Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
