A Geneva man is charged with animal cruelty after leaving his dog alone in his car after taking it with him to work at Canandaigua school after forgetting to drop her off at a doggy daycare.
Daniel Bowman is accused of leaving the one-and-a-half-year-old Goldendoodle, named Pecan, in his car for four hours with the windows up, which was not parked in the shade, on an 85-degree day. When Bowman came back to check on Pecan during his lunch break, she was unresponsive. He and a co-worker took Pecan to a local vet, who was unable to resuscitate her and determined she died due to heat exposure.
Bowman will appear in Canandaigua City Court at a later date to answer the charge.
The Ontario and Seneca County Sheriff’s Offices and Ontario County District Attorney’s investigators assisted the Ontario County Humane Society with its investigation.
