Democrat Scott Bowes and incumbent Republican Kyle Brimm each received 89 votes in last month’s election. Republicans, who hold the majority on the council, wanted to make an appointment to fill the seat, while Democrats wanted to flip a coin to determine the next councilor.
The Finger Lakes Times reports the Governor could call for a special election to fill the seat.
