Have you or someone you know been thinking about running for your school board of education?
The Four County School Boards Association, which covers schools in Yates, Seneca, Ontario, and Wayne counties is holding a free virtual seminar for prospective school board members on the morning of March 2nd. The seminar is designed to help potential school board candidates and the public at large understand the role and responsibilities of school board service.
This year, all school board members will be elected on May 21st. Candidates for boards of education must file their nominating petitions at least 30 days prior to the election (20 days for small cities).
A school board candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, able to read and write, a district resident for one year before the election, and not employed by the school district or related to a current member of the board of education.
There is no charge for this seminar. Registration is required to receive a Zoom meeting link and can be done through the Four County School Boards Association:
