Former Acting Geneva Schools Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Davis has been named the Interim Superintendent of the Baldwinsville School District.
The move came moments after the Baldwinsville School Board voted last night to drop all disciplinary charges against current Superintendent Jason Thomson in exchange for his resignation at the end of the school year. Thomson was arrested back in October and charged with drunken driving after his behavior at the district’s Homecoming football game raised concerns from onlookers. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired.
By agreement, Superintendent Thomson will remain on paid administrative leave pending the effective date of his resignation which includes an agreed-upon severance package.
Dr. Davis became acting Geneva Superintendent in September of 2021 during the investigation of then-Superintendent Patricia Garcia. She remained in that position until July of last year.
Dr. Davis has 41 years of experience in education serving as a coach, teacher, building administrator and Superintendent of Schools. She retired in 2016 after serving as the superintendent of Holland Patent Schools for just over 15 years. Dr. Davis has been doing interim work since 2017 in the following districts:
VVS – Elementary Interim Principal
Baldwinsville – Ray Middle School Interim Principal
Oneida City – HS Interim Principal/Interim Superintendent
Waterville Central – Interim Superintendent
Canastota Central – Interim Superintendent
New York Mills Union Free Schools – Interim Superintendent
Geneva City Schools – Interim Superintendent
Dr. Davis has also taught for Utica College in their graduate program for education for several years. She has prior experience working with the State Education Department on a School Under Registration Review (SURR) Team and has been on the Commissioner’s Advisory Committee as a superintendent representative.
She has been married 36 years to her husband Earl who has worked for WKTV for 39 years. They both reside in Barneveld. Dr. Davis, however, will reside in Baldwinsville during her interim work to provide the highest level of support for the district and our school community.
