First Annual Menzo Case Golf Outing Raises $25K For Habitat

Habitat for Humanity of Seneca County recently hosted its 25th Annual Golf Tournament at the Seneca Falls Country Club to raise funds for new projects—this year was the first year that it was named in memory of Menzo Case, who was the backbone of the organization in Seneca County, having served as a Board Member of Habitat for over 20 years, many of those years spent as President. The tournament hosted 29 teams and raised $24,800—both record amounts for the event.

The annual golf tournament, and Raise the Roof Dinner are both major fundraising events to help raise money to start and complete new housing projects for those who apply and are accepted for the initiatives. The tournament was named after Menzo Case, the late President and CEO of Generations Bank, who dedicated a large portion of his personal time to building homes for the community—in his time, Menzo helped complete over 30 homes in Seneca County to families in need of affordable housing.

“These events give us a chance to help provide a happy home for families who need affordable housing, and we couldn’t do it without the help of our volunteers and sponsors” states Celeste Trickler, Vice Chairperson of Habitat for Humanity, who has supported the organization for over 30 years. “We wanted to carry on Menzo’s legacy by naming the tournament after him, as he loved golf, but loved providing housing for the community more as he believed everyone should have a home.”

Next year’s tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the Seneca Falls Country Club.
