UPDATE:  John Kreuger, owner of HEP Sales, tells us they have minor damage from the fire and are open.

A fire Tuesday evening caused damage to the HEP Sales and North Main Lumber store on Routes 5&20 in Waterloo.

Geneva, Border City, and Waterloo Fire Departments, along with North Seneca Ambulance responded to the scene just before 7:30 pm.  Oaks Corners Fire Department provided standby for Border City.  Smoke could be seen coming from the building.  The fire was quickly brought under control.

Routes 5 & 20, the Waterloo-Geneva Road, was closed for about 2-and-half hours as firefighters connected to the hydrant across the highway from the HEP plaza. The road opened just before 10 pm.

The Seneca County Fire Investigation Team is searching for the cause of the fire.
