An Ontario County family escaped safely after a chimney fire broke out at their home in the Town of Bristol Tuesday night.
Deputies, along with members of the Richmond and Bristol Fire Departments, responded to a residence at 8073 Farview Drive just before 8 after receiving reports of a chimney fire.
When first responders arrived, they observed smoke coming from the home. The homeowner, Jerry Hill, along with his wife and three children, had already evacuated the residence safely. No injuries were reported.
Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire, which caused damage to the chimney and the surrounding interior. After an inspection by code enforcement, the family was allowed to remain in their home.
