It was a Celebration of Woman’s Voting Rights Sunday in New Jersey.
Seneca Falls, New York and Tenafly, New Jersey are now “Sister Cities”. In August, the Seneca Falls Town Board unanimously approved a resolution approving the sister city designation. Yesterday was the reveal party in Tenafly!
Almost 200 Tenafly residents showed up for the League of Women Voters of Northern Valley Event.
The reason – Elizabeth Cady Stanton. The Women’s Rights Pioneer lived in Seneca Falls, New York and then moved to Tenafly, New Jersey. A short video was shown about Seneca Falls.

Coline Jenkins, the great-great granddaughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton says its important that both Seneca Falls and Tenafly tell America their stories.
Seneca Falls residents that traveled to Tenafly were treated to a breakfast at a restaurant in the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Railroad Station and a tour of Stanton’s home which is now privately owned.

Borough Councilwoman Julie O’Connor joined Seneca Falls native and Tyre Town Judge Kathy Jans-Duffy, reading the resolutions approved by both muncipalities.
The League of Women Voters hopes to organize a bus tour next year for Tenafly residents so they can visit Seneca Falls and the Women’s Rights National Historical Park.
