An emergency preparedness drill designed to prepare local emergency response agencies for a hazardous materials event will take place Saturday morning at the former Evans Chemetics chemical plant in Waterloo. The facility, now owned by a German-based company Bruno Bock, is located at 228 East Main Street.
An article in Friday’s Finger Lakes Times says the drill will start with an emergency alarm sounded for the internal Bruno Bock emergency response team for the plant workers to evacuate. The emergency response team will call the Seneca County 911 center, which will dispatch emergency service agencies to the plant. The drill will conclude around 11 a.m. with cleanup and lunch provided to all participants by Bruno Bock.
Organizers say there will not be any road closures or details for the drill, but you are asked to drive with extra caution if in the area between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
