SHARE NOW

Firefighters from eight Ontario County departments battled a field fire in the area of State Route 21 and Nott Road in Canandaigua on Sunday.

When the first units arrived on scene, firefighters found an area approximately 100 feet by 200 feet actively burning. Due to the fire’s rapid spread and its proximity to nearby structures, additional off-road firefighting vehicle had to be used. In less than 45 minutes, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control without any injuries or damage to structures.

State Route 21 was closed for almost two hours while firefighters were on scene.

Agencies that responded to the incident included: Cheshire, Bristol, East Bloomfield, Naples, Hopewell, Victor, Manchester and Farmington fire departments. Personnel from the Ontario County Emergency Management Office also provided on-scene support and assisted in coordinating incoming resources. Canandaigua Fire was on standby for Cheshire Fire.
