The Dundee school district will soon start the search for a new superintendent.
Christopher Barnard will leave the district at the end of the school year to become the next superintendent of the Manchester-Shortsville school district. Barnard came to Dundee in October of 2021, replacing Kelly Houck when she left to become the superintendent of the Greater Southern Tier BOCES.
“It is an absolute privilege to be joining the Manchester-Shortsville Central School District as your next Superintendent,” stated Barnard in a statement released by the Manchester-Shortsville School District. “I am ecstatic about meeting each one of you. The Manchester-Shortsville community has a strong history and culture, and I look forward to building on the current opportunities and the foundation already in place to achieve high standards for all.”
Prior to taking the job at Dundee, Barnard served as the Intermediate School Principal for the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District, and an Administrator and Sixth Grade Classroom Teacher for the Victor Central School District. The Geneva native has previous experience had him serving as a Fourth Grade Classroom Teacher for Gates Chili Central School District, and UPK Program Lead Teacher for Action for a Better Community.
“On behalf of the Manchester-Shortsville Board of Education, we would like to sincerely thank all those who supported and participated in this process,” stated Board President Barbara Gardner. “It is clear that Barnard’s vision and passion align with our district’s needs and culture. His experience and skills will support the legacy of Mrs. Dehn and continue to grow our vision of challenging all learners while working in partnership with the school community to achieve high standards.”
