One person was taken to the hospital after a two-car motor vehicle accident in Canandaigua on Monday.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 1:00p at the intersection of 5&20 and Hickox Road.
Jay Vandyke of Bloomfield is accused of traveling east on 5&20 when he struck Mark Powless of Niagara Falls as he slowed down for a red light. The 62-year-old Vandyke was taken to the hospital in stable condition for internal injuries. The 74-year-old Powless was uninjured.
During their investigation, deputies determined Vandyke was
operating his vehicle with a revoked driver’s license. As a result, he was charged with aggravated unlicensed operator, speed not reasonable & prudent, and following too closely. He is set to answer the charges against him at a later date.
5&20 was closed off between Hopkins Road and Hickox Road for roughly one hour.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
