Dr. Anne E. Killen, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Northeast College of Health Sciences, will deliver the keynote address at the Ontario/Yates Fund for Women and Girls’ (ONYA) highly anticipated 25th Anniversary Bud to Bloom Luncheon. The event will be held on  June 7 at the 41 Lakefront Hotel by Wyndham in Geneva, with a silent auction beginning at 11:00 a.m. and the luncheon at 12:00 p.m.

ONYA’s Bud to Bloom Luncheon is a signature annual event that celebrates and supports the advancement of women and girls across Ontario and Yates Counties. This year marks a special milestone—25 years of community impact—making it especially meaningful for Dr. Killen to take the stage as keynote speaker. A long-time champion of equity, education, and mentorship, Dr. Killen’s address is expected to inspire and resonate with attendees.

Her keynote, titled “When Women Uplift Women: Mentorship, Courage, and Legacy,” reflects a career devoted to helping others realize their potential. Drawing from her own journey—from working in her family’s small business to earning a doctoral degree while raising children and leading academic innovation in higher education Dr. Killen embodies the values of perseverance, service, and community leadership.

“At Northeast College, I tell our students that we’re not just preparing them to become healthcare professionals—we’re preparing them to serve humanity,” Dr. Killen said. “And serving others means recognizing their strengths, creating opportunity, and believing in their capacity to lead.”

Dr. Killen’s message of intentional mentorship and advocacy is deeply aligned with ONYA’s mission. As Provost, she has been instrumental in developing inclusive and innovative health sciences programs that meet the evolving needs of students and communities. She is also a strong advocate for expanding access to education and leadership opportunities for women, particularly in fields where they have been historically underrepresented.

“Dr. Killen’s leadership, integrity, and commitment to women’s empowerment make her a powerful voice for this event,” said ONYA Board Member Dr. Deborah Gregory. “Her presence underscores the importance of community leaders standing together to inspire the next generation of changemakers.”

All proceeds from the Bud to Bloom Luncheon will support ONYA’s grantmaking initiatives that promote personal growth, education, and economic independence for women and girls in the region. The event will include a silent auction, networking opportunities, and the presentation of this year’s “Inspiring Women of Ontario and Yates Counties” awards.

Dr. Killen joins a legacy of leaders who have used their platforms to elevate others—and her keynote promises to be a heartfelt reminder of what is possible when women support one another with intention, vision, and courage.
