The Ontario County Chamber of Commerce and Ontario County ATHENA Steering Committee will host the 39th Annual ATHENA Leadership Awards dinner on November 14 at Club 86. The Committee also seeks nominations for honorees; the nomination deadline is July 26.
The ATHENA Leadership Award recognizes accomplished individuals who actively support women in attaining professional excellence and leadership skills. The award highlights what recipients have accomplished in addition to ways they have paved the path for future successes. ATHENA Leadership Award inspires others to achieve excellence by honoring exceptional leaders.
The Ontario County ATHENA Committee presents two ATHENA Awards annually — the ATHENA Leadership Award and the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award (for those under 40). Honoree criteria are:
- Demonstrates The Eight Principles of Enlightened Leadership™ in all aspects of their life.
- Demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession.
- Provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community.
- Actively assists women in achieving their full leadership potential.
The Eight Principles of Enlightened Leadership are:
- LIVE AUTHENTICALLY: Leaders know their values & stay true to them.
- LEARN CONSTANTLY: Leaders seek knowledge.
- BUILD RELATIONSHIPS: Leaders engage, empower & entrust.

- ADVOCATE FIERCELY: Leaders champion for what they believe is right.
- GIVE BACK: Leaders serve.
- CELEBRATE: Leaders remember and rejoice.
