A two-vehicle crash at a Lodi intersection sent a 73-year-old woman to the hospital and led to multiple tickets and an arrest on an outstanding warrant, according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at around 9:15 a.m. Jan. 1 to the intersection of Main Street and West Seneca Street after a crash blocked the roadway.
It was determined that Zhyana Masker, a 23-year-old Ithaca resident, was traveling west on State Route 96A when her vehicle slid through a stop sign and struck another vehicle traveling north on State Route 414. The second vehicle was operated by Mary Reed, a 73-year-old Romulus resident.
Reed was treated at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance and transported to Geneva General Hospital for further treatment, officials said.
Masker was issued tickets for no insurance, no inspection and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. While on scene, deputies discovered Masker also had an active arrest warrant issued by the Cortland City Police Department.
Deputies transported Masker to Cortland, where she was turned over to Cortland police to answer the warrant.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
