A months-long investigation into illegal drug activity ended Tuesday afternoon in the City of Geneva with the arrest of a local man.
At around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the City of Geneva Police Department’s Detective Bureau, working with New York State Police and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, executed a “No Knock” search warrant at a home on John Street. Aaron Godwin-Smith, a Geneva resident, was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

During the search, officers recovered 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, packaging materials used for distributing narcotics, two loaded handguns, and approximately $3,000 in cash. Godwin-Smith was processed at the Geneva Police Department and transported to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.
Authorities say additional arrests are expected, with further charges pending.
The Geneva Police Department thanked members of the public who submitted tips related to the residence and encouraged residents to report suspicious activity via the city’s online tips email at [email protected].
The department also expressed gratitude to the New York State Police and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office for their support and collaboration in the investigation.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
