Clyde-Savannah Central School District will receive part of the 850-thousand dollars the state is awarding to provide New York made produce to students.
The district will receive 100-thousand dollars to further develop existing relationships with farmers and also build new relationships. This project will also focus on classes for students in grades 1-12 to educate them on sustainable farming and gardening practices.
The new curriculum will also include a greenhouse to allow for for hands on education.
“Our Farm-to-School program is a key component of my administration’s efforts to get more fresh, local New York products on tables across the state,” Governor Hochul said. “By connecting schools and farmers, we are providing critical economic opportunities for farmers and producers while also giving students and underserved populations access to locally sourced, fresh, healthy, and nutritious food.”
