The city of Geneva has won a Community Development Block Grant from the state for housing rehabilitation. David West, the city’s Economic Development Director, said it will fund the rehabilitation of seven homes owned by moderate-income households.
“So whether or not someone qualifies, they have to own the home that they live in, and they have to meet an income threshold, which is different for different-sized families,” said West on Monday’s FLX Morning. “So for a four-person family, the maximum income would be $77,600. For a one-person household, the maximum income would be $54,350.”
West said the city was required by the state to first gather resident feedback before applying for the grant. Now awarded, the city will contact those residents and post applications online for other interested residents within the next few weeks.
