A teenager was seriously injured over the weekend after being struck by a car in East Bloomfield.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says, just before 3:00p on Sunday, a girl was walking on State Route 444 when 39-year-old Michael Defrancesco of Canandaigua was travelling north. He then crossed over the white fog line and struck her.

14-year-old Hailey Pool of Bloomfield was flown to Strong via Mercy Flight for treatment of injuries described as serious but not life threatening.

Defrancesco was arrested and charged with vehicular assault, driving while ability impaired by a drug, and traffic violations. He was released with an appearance ticket.

The road was shut down between Wishing Well Trailer Park and Pond Road for two hours while the scene was investigated.

A GoFundMe campaign has been started for the Pool family.
