Cheerleading Coach Accused of Stealing From Midlakes Boosters Club

SHARE NOW

A local high school varsity cheerleading coach has been arrested on grand larceny charges.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says Tori Salato, of Phelps, allegedly made over $1,500 in unauthorized purchases using the Midlakes Cheerleading Booster Club’s account between December 2023 and last November. Investigators also report that proceeds from a July chicken BBQ fundraiser were never deposited. Authorities are seeking anyone who paid for a fundraiser dinner by check or electronically to contact Investigator Doug Smith via email at [email protected]

On the school’s website, Salato is listed as the Varsity Competitive Cheer Coach as well as the Modified and Varsity Game Day Cheer Coach.

Salato was released on an appearance ticket for Phelps Town Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
