Cellmate Charged in Death of Five Points Correctional Inmate

SHARE NOW

A Canastota man already serving a life sentence for a murder he committed in Oneida County has been indicted in the death of his cellmate at Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus.

The Finger Lakes Times reports 42-year-old Kevin Farley was arraigned in Seneca County Court on Wednesday on two counts of first-degree murder and a weapons charge in the death of Adam Lafferty, the Clyde man who was found strangled in his cell last December.

District Attorney John Nabinger says he’ll seek life without parole, calling the killing “very brutal.”

Lafferty’s family says he had predicted his own death in letters to relatives and a federal judge. State investigators say their probe into the case is still ongoing.

The case is due back in court on November 5th.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
