The owner of the pit bull that attacked a father and his son while walking on South Main Street in the city of Canandaigua last Thursday morning was ticketed ten days earlier for allegedly letting the dog roam unrestrained.
27-year-old Casey Murphy was issued an appearance ticket on August 19th for allowing the dog to run at large.
Canandaigua Police say the same pit bull caused severe injuries to a 43-year-old Rochester dad and his 10-year-old son on August 29th. The pit bull was also involved in an attack on August 12th when it ran loose and injured a three-year-old child playing in their yard on Chapin Street. That investigation was turned over to the Ontario County Humane Society.
After last Thursday’s incident, the dog was seized by the Humane Society.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
