The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 31-year-old Canandaigua man on Friday.
Phillip Schmidt was arrested at his Beeman Street residence after a bench warrant was issued for failing to appear in court.
Schmidt was originally taken into custody on August 2 following an investigation by the Humane Society, which found he had abandoned his dog, “Scarlett,” at a local residence. He was charged with abandonment of an animal, a Class A misdemeanor under New York State Agricultural and Markets Law.
Following his arrest on September 26, Schmidt was transported to Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.
