Motorists in one Ontario County city may soon find out they can’t get away with running a red light anymore.
A proposed resolution for Canandaigua City Council at tonight’s meeting would request local state elected leaders introduce home-rule legislation that would allow the city to install and operate redlight cameras at traffic signals.
If installed, the cameras would be used to capture the license plates of cars that travel through a red light. The owner of the car would then be sent a ticket to appear in Canandaigua City Court.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. and the agenda is available here
